Culture's Consequences for Leadership Behavior
Lynn R. Offermann and Peta Hellmann (1997), Vol. 28, PP. 342-351, Pgs. Journal of Cross-cultural Psychology.
Relationships between work-related values held by managers from 39 diverse national cultures
and their leadership practices as assessed by subordinates were examined. Power distance was
significantly and negatively associated with leader communication, delegation, approachability,
and team building; uncertainty avoidance was significantly associated with more leader control,
but less delegation and approachability.
